Earthquake Recovery VR training

For our client we created a Proof of Concept for a Virtual Reality training application for the HTC Vive. The VR app is used for training Earthquake Recovery teams from USAR. The scene had to be a village the day after an earthquake with many destroyed buildings and a lot of rubble and dust.

I was the main artist on this project. The most important part was the collapsed school that I created with Cinema 4D's Voronoi Fracture.

I was also responsible for:
- modelling (except the modular buildings in the background and characters)
- texturing
- lightning
- terrain painting
I also used models from the "Rubble and Debris - Modular Set" which I modified with different textures to fit better into the scene.

I really love the end result! Walking in your own scene with the HTC Vive is a very cool experience!

The school building. I love Cinema 4D's Voronoi fracture! We wanted to create a "pancake collapse" for this simulation. Voronoi gives you a lot of control. It is also very easy to give the new faces that are created a different material.
